National Settlement Depository (NSD) draws the attention of securities market participants to the emergence of private limited liability companies which names contain elements similar to the names of major Russian companies of the fuel and energy sector in the official register of companies registered in the territory of the UK and Northern Ireland (The Companies House register). According to information published in the register, NSD is listed as a shareholder of a number of these companies (in particular, JSC TRANSNEFT LTD., OIL COMPANY LUKOIL LTD., PJSC TATNEFT LTD., and SURGUTNEFTEGAS LTD.).
In this regard, NSD officially states that it has not taken and is not taking any measures connected to the founding and registering of subsidiary and dependent companies in the territory of foreign countries and has not agreed to take such measures in its name including in respect of the abovementioned companies registered in the United Kingdom. Any actions indicating NSD as a founding company or a shareholder in foreign companies are undertaken without NSD’s involvement and are therefore illegal.
NSD expresses its deep concern over the situation and cautions market participants against any interactions with such companies or their representatives.
